Hello! I'm Si'kan Nin, though most call me Si! I'm really really happy you decided to come by and check me out! I use my Carrd as both a place to introduce myself, as well as a way to jot down and update my character as I go! I've been RPing for a long time on this character, since just before the release of Stormblood, so at this point my RP is my backstory!A quick overview of myself? Uh... Well! I'm the proprietor of the Spice and Miqo'te Tavern and Bath House, a Venue on Mateus! I also am a registered Levemete with the Adventurer's guild, so I hand out Leve quests to adventurers! I love books, cooking, and hearing/telling stories! I'm a half-retired war veteran, but I still do Training and Office work for the Maelstrom as a Staff Sergeant, and I want nothing more than the war against Garlemald to end, so that my daughters can grow up in a world without needing to worry about the Empire on our doorstep. Oh, and I design houses/apartments on the side! Not enough to have a portfolio of it, but enough that I feel like I really should start one...I am open to almost all types of RP, with very little restrictions on what I am not interested in when it comes to darker story telling as well. Si'kan is trained across multiple military disciplines, ranging from longswords to bows. She's also been trained in the warrior ways of the Xaelic tribes of the Steppes, having completed the trials needed and joined the Oronir officially, as well as another 'Lost Tribe' known as the Drakkari. She's also trained as a Dark Knight, and while she uses many different martial weapons, she incorporates the ability to use Dark Aether into her style.Due to her training on the Steppe, she's come to appreciate the Eastern weapons and prefers to use a Nodatchi as her main focus, but is also able to utilize a Katana, Longsword, Axe, Bow, Handgonne, and Rapier with expertise.She's also an keen mind on the battlefield, having studied military tactics, logistics, and economics... Physical/Aetherical Quirks:
Aether Color: For those who have Aethersight, Si's Aether appears to be aspected towards lightning, however it appears that a majority of her body actually runs on and exerts Dark Aether, moving across her body like veins to help her move. Those who know Aetherology would know that this is the a result of an over reliance on Dark Aether, and can be potentially hazardous to one's health.
Aetherically Stunted: Si'kan is unable to channel aether normally, thus barring her from using even basic Aetheric Manipulation to cast simple spells, nor can she make use of the Teleport Spell that is common to many adventurers, thus she is often traveling by foot or airship. She has worked around this by either teleporting with a friend, or using Aetheric Crystals that she can smash to teleport her to a pre-attuned location, though doing either usually results in a large amount of Aether Sickness, increasing in intensity the further the distance.
Dark Aether Manipulation: While she has a hard time manipulating basic Aether, she has been trained to manipulate and harness Dark Aether, though the inability to properly control it can lead to dire consequence if she loses focus or control leading too...
Abyssal Poisoning: A result of her Aetherpool being tainted with Dark Aether whilst unable to generate more of her own natural Aether. This occurs in multiple stages, and once past a certain point it never goes away. Si'kan unfortunately has Stage 3 Abyssal Poisoning, which she will not recover from unless RP says otherwise. If she overuses her Dark Aether, and pushes herself too far, she becomes at risk of her body ceasing function, and slowly transforming into a minor voidsent/mindless husk.
Glowing Eye: When the Calamity happened, she experienced an influx of Aether from the moon Dalamud coming so close to Etheirys. While this also had the effect of stunting her Aetherpool, it also had the side effect of making her eye glow faintly, which increases in intensity the more potent of emotion she feels. Besides that cosmetic change, there is no other effects.
Nummed Focus: Si’kan, when hyper-focused, can become numb to most forms of pain. This is in part to her own withdrawal into a depressive state for a long period of time, but also in part to her training as a Dark Knight. She often is able to ignore wounds that would otherwise cause her lots of pain, for better or worse.

Personality Quirks:
Loyal to a Fault: Si'kan is extremely loyal to those she considers friends and family, to the point that she will do almost anything to ensure they're safe, happy, and healthy.
Martyr: Si'kan is more than willing to sacrifice herself for those she cares for if there is no other option. The survival of her friends and family trumps her own safety in most situations, but she will not throw herself into danger willy nilly as she did before.
Calculated Risks: As a tactician and war veteran, she prefers to take time to consider her options before diving straight into a situation, though there are times that logic goes out the window for her.
Resolved: She is unafraid of things that would normally dwarf mortals, especially ones such as herself with no fancy Aetheric Ability or Echo. In the face of such odds, her resolve to see it through to the end is unshakable. It would take a lot to break her will, unless...
Mental Cracks: Si'kan has endured much over her life, from tragedies involving her friends and family, to more personal breaks in her mind. Well placed strikes at these cracks will cause her will to shatter quickly. Only those who RP with her frequently have a chance to learn these!
False Bravado: Upon her initial return from the Warfront, Si'kan had become withdrawn from society and set herself under house arrest for a long time. While she has since been outside of that self-imposed confinement for over a year, there are times that she will become overwhelmed or break down, though they are becoming less and less frequent every day.
Worrywart: Si'kan has a tendency to over worry, even over the smallest of things.
The Needs of the Few: While Si’kan is all about the Greater Good, the safety of everyone else goes out the window the moment her daughters, or anyone she considers family, are threatened, hurt, or in danger. Her only priority will be to save, or avenge, those of her family who were hurt, regardless of the consequence.
Broken Chains: After escaping her slavery, Si’kan is adamantly against any forms of ownership over sentient life, to the point that she’ll take the matter into her own hands. She has also vowed that she will never serve another again against her will, even at risk to herself.

The Bleeding Heart is an Order of Dark Knights that roam Eorzea. Along with the other aspects of the Dark Knight code, the Bleeding Heart focuses on growth and moving past one’s traumas and hate, learning to accept who and what they are, while holding the memory of those events in their heart so that they can call upon their powers as needed.While their flame of Dark Aether doesn’t burn as bright due to the nature of acceptance, they are generally more open individuals, and a fair bit more friendly and sympathetic to the people around them than other Knights.To make up for the lack of Dark Aether to support them as much as other Knights, they double down on their Martial training, focusing on many weapons, and honing their skills to make up for their deficiency.Ranks:

Oh boy, where do I even begin! As I stated in #welcome, I've been RPing Si'kan for a long time. As such, I have a very large backlog of hooks, and more than likely we could work something out. I will list out below some basic hooks, as well as her active relations with the many factions across Etheirys. She's not a super celebrity of course, but she's been around for many a year! Si'kan is a Staff Sergeant in the Maelstrom. Yes, this is a relatively low rank! If your character is a higher rank, feel free to call her in for work, a review, talking, etc etc. She is often training new recruits.
She's a Barkeep! I don't mean this to advertise my venue, but if you just want to share some information, or perhaps learn some, she knows many things that go on seeing that she has a TON of people come through and talk to her.
Military Service! Going along with the Maelstrom thing, she was present in her backstory for a few events through FFXIV's Plotline. She is a veteran of the Dragonsong War, she aided in the Liberation of Ala Mhigo, and she has most recently fought on the Frontline during the incursion into Garlemald. Whilst she is no longer actively fighting, she served for a long time and might know other military characters!
Steepe Tribe! She's a member of the Oronir as well as a 'Lost Tribe' known as the Drakkari! She's passed Bardam's Mettle and she has participated in the Naadam twice before. Warriors of the Steppe might recognize her as "That Hyuran Oronir", but she's by no means extremely well known.
Academic background! Si'kan used to run a Scholastic Academy that focused on Sciences and Military Studies. She's extremely interested in old cultures or learning that of current ones. She's an anthropologist with a deep investment into the cultures of the Azim Steppe.

Her daughter, Lia, is a student at Sharlayan studying Aetherology! Perhaps you know her daughter, perhaps you are one of her professors! Lia is a decent student, though has been known to cause trouble... Much like her mother.

Hi!
